Becoming a Business Coach & Consultant FAQs
Common questions about becoming a business coach or small business consultant—the path, investment, and practice model.
What does a small business coach or consultant do?
A small business coach or consultant helps entrepreneurial leadership teams solve operating problems, build accountability, and grow healthier businesses. As a Professional EOS Implementer®, you teach, coach, and facilitate using a structured, proven system—not open-ended custom consulting. You guide clients through the EOS Process to gain Vision, Traction, and Healthy.
How do I become a business coach or consultant with EOS?
The path typically includes: watch the franchise overview webinar, meet us on a 1:1 discovery call, review the Franchise Disclosure Document, complete a Contributor Call with a current coach or consultant, attend EOS Boot Camp (3-day immersive training), then launch your 180-day Sprint with full support.
What is the cost to become a business coach or EOS consultant?
Initial franchise fee is $50,000 (paid upfront). Monthly franchise fee is $1,395 (as of April 2025; subject to change). That includes the EOS training platform (Basecamp), coaching, tools, marketing resources, Quarterly Collaborative Exchange registration, a branded microsite, CRM, and more. EOS does not collect royalties on your session fees.
Do I need to stop doing other coaching or consulting work?
EOS should be your primary focus. You may continue offering non-competing services if approved through the Item 16 Questionnaire. Those services must be billed separately, happen on non-EOS days, and cannot conflict with EOS intellectual property.
Does EOS Worldwide provide client leads?
Yes. Through the Warm Leads Program, coaches and consultants can opt in to receive leads who have expressed interest in working with an EOS Implementer. If a lead converts to a client, EOS invoices you for 50% of the first Focus Day fee. Most practitioners still source the majority of clients through networking and referrals.
Is there territory exclusivity?
No. EOS does not offer exclusive territories. Multiple coaches and consultants may operate in the same geographic region. Clients choose their practitioner based on fit and experience, not location.
Who is the ideal candidate for a coaching or consulting practice?
Successful coaches and consultants often share five traits: Story (relatable entrepreneurial or leadership experience), Network (relationships with small business leaders), Purity (commitment to delivering EOS purely), Passion (love of teaching, coaching, and facilitating), and Emotional intelligence (ability to connect with leadership teams).
