Why I decided to become an EOS Implementer

First of all, let me just say off the bat that I think life is a project. It has a start date and an end date. There are certain goals, deliverables, jobs to be done. And if you think about your life as a project, it actually makes everything fall into place. Instead of thinking of a job, or even a career as that – it’s a project.

This is an idea that I picked up from football coaches, or soccer coaches, you would hear a head coach taking a position, talking about the project, being attracted to the project, with a specific timeframe, and a very focused and definite outcome. Whether it was promotion, winning a trophy, a turnaround, whatever the case may be.

So, when I look at my life now, I have several projects that inspire me and take up my timeThat gives me purpose that allows me to actualize myself.

One of them, of course, is my show, “Joseph Jaffe is not famous“. One of them is Alpha Collective. And now, a third project, EOS Worldwide

For those of you that don’t know what EOS is, EOS stands for the Entrepreneurial Operating System. It’s a complete system with a set of simple and yet powerful tools that allow entrepreneurially minded and growth-minded businesses – typically privately held between 10 and 250 employees but not always the case – to become what’s called Vision. Traction. Healthy: having first the leadership team completely aligned around a common vision and a shared purpose, instilling a sense of discipline and accountability, into the ability to execute that vision. And finally, the ability for the team, and ultimately everyone in the organization to operate as one cohesive, functional, harmonious unit.

In fact, EOS is really just a system for orchestrating and harmonizing all the moving parts of a business. It allows business owners to get what they want from the business, and ultimately, to live what’s called the EOS life.

Doing what you love with people you love, making a tangible difference, getting paid what you’re worth, and having time to pursue other passions. Now, someone calls it business coaching. And I’ll tell you, this has always been in my DNA. I’ve mentored, facilitated, led workshops, spoken, and taught most recently at Western Connecticut State University, and NYU.

But what is it to be a coach? We’ve seen so many examples of coaches in our lifetime. And I think the most visible depiction of a coach is in the sports arena. We’ve seen benevolent coaches, we’ve seen tyrant coaches. But it was during the pandemic, that I saw this almost explosion of business coaches and life coaches.

I don’t know that I would have been ready for this three years ago. Because three years ago, I probably would have been the person telling and providing the answers. I would have been the smartest person in the room, or at least someone who thought they were but that’s not what a coach is.

A coach doesn’t tell. A coach asks, a coach believes the answer is in the room. A coach is an active listener. I think three years of doing my show has given me that opportunity to understand and ultimately apply myself as a coach. To harness the energy in the room of the people that ultimately are responsible for taking a company from here to there, whatever their means.

Now, let me tell you a little bit about EOS. EOS now has over 20,000 clients worldwide. And between 642 implementers, there have been just over 136,000 session days that have been completed. It actually all begins with a 90-minute meeting, which is free. This is part of what EOS would call a guarantee. Now, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. And that is true. However, this 90-minute meeting is an opportunity for both sides to assess a fit and it’s packed with value.

It’s based on a quiet confidence, a humble confidence about a system that can literally change lives. This is what I heard time and time again. That EOS changes lives. That’s really powerful. And it’s a gift, it’s a privilege, to be in a position to give a founder peace of mind, to give an owner the ability to see their family, to allow ordinary people to realize extraordinary aspirations.

And it’s a proven system. It’s not about reinventing the wheel. It’s about tools that have been around for 100 years and most likely will be around for 1000 years from now. It’s about being able to actually get into good habits, potentially to break bad habits. But the reality is that most businesses don’t have any habits. They operate on a whim, a prayer. And the ability to install this operating system early on provides a backbone, a wireframe, a framework to be able to focus on the right things.

To get unstuck. To truly achieve your dreams, your hopes, your vision.

Your goals, oftentimes, your father’s goal, your grandmother’s goals.

To be able to implement that vision without diluting it.

And all the while being able to adapt and evolve based on these constantly changing times. Like for example, AI, being able to understand what role technology plays or will play in your organization.

The thing that’s so amazing about EOS it’s one of those things where if you haven’t heard of it, you will. There’s a book called Traction. It has sold close to 2 million copies. If you don’t have a copy of it, DM me. I’ll send you a copy of it. Of course, if you’re interested in talking about EOS, contact me and let’s have a conversation…

And if you’re ready for that 90 minute meeting, it would be my privilege to be able to deliver that for you and your leadership team. I’m so excited, I feel completely liberated, untethered. Everything in life is about timing. And it’s taken me all of this time to arrive at an inevitable position.

Just like when I became a talk show host, I have that same sense of excitement, exhilaration, a healthy element of fear, to be in a position to impact so many different lives. But I couldn’t be more ready for this next chapter; for this next project.

I started talking about projects and I’m going to end by talking about projects, because the role of an implementer is not to embed themselves in the organization. It’s to empower that organization to graduate, move on and operate autonomously, independently – without that implementer or coach holding their hand or challenging them, but no doubt cheering them on from the sidelines.

I will be sure to update you over the course of the days, weeks, months and years to come in terms of the amazing companies that I’m going to be able to work with, the lives I’m going to be able to impact, and the businesses that are going to be able to flourish when they are Vision. Traction. Healthy.

P.S. If you’re wondering where you stack up, take the organizational checkup.
