How Is EOS Any Different from the Last System You Tried?

Many companies have tried other systems and processes before implementing the Entrepreneurial Operating System®. Almost without exception, they’ve tried multiple systems, and they’ve all fizzled out.

Most leadership teams have some anxiety when they’re coming into the EOS Process™. They often fear that EOS will be just like every other attempt to adopt a system. Someone usually brings it up during the Focus Day. No matter how productive that first day has been, leadership team members are still a bit gun shy: they’ve seen their company go through this cycle before, and it’s always ended with a big flop. Whatever they’ve done in the past, it never stuck.

If your company is thinking about using the Entrepreneurial Operating System, you’re probably asking yourself, Can we stick with EOS? What makes this any different from all the previous systems we’ve tried to adopt before?

It’s a good question.

The EOS Difference

When you start implementing EOS, you have several things going for you that equip you to stick with it. These are proven tools and resources that tens of thousands of other companies in your situation have successfully used to implement EOS and stuck with it, for good.

Certified Implementers

One of your greatest resources is your Professional or Certified EOS Implementer. Certified Implementers are experts in EOS and have dedicated themselves to helping businesses successfully run on EOS. When you hire a Certified EOS Implementer, you get a teacher and coach who:

  • Has completed a rigorous training program (and does refresher training every 90 days)
  • Has implemented EOS purely with 10 or more clients
  • Conducts at least 48 sessions per year
  • Earns an average session rating of 8.75 or higher (on a scale of 1-10)

Your Implementer is there to help you navigate the unchartered waters and to walk with you through every stage of implementation. You have someone who has seen it all, and knows how to help your team stay focused until you’re running on EOS independently.

Proven EOS Process

The EOS Process itself is designed to help you implement EOS successfully in your company. By following this proven process, you’ll put key components of EOS in place in the right order, and at the right time. The built-in cadence gives you time to get used to each step before moving onto the next one. Here’s a quick overview.

1. Focus Day

During Focus Day, you’ll get clear on accountability and on the same page about the top 3-7 priorities the team needs to be laser focused on. You’ll walk out of your very first meeting with clarity on each person’s roles and responsibilities. And you’ll have a built-in mechanism to meet those responsibilities every single week.

You’ll also have a Scorecard that identifies the key numbers you need to be tracking on a weekly basis to give your team a pulse on the business. The Scorecard will help you predict your financial future so there are no surprises. If it’s not on the Scorecard, you don’t need to worry about it.

2. Vision Building Day 1

Your first 30 days are your toughest, and you’ll probably feel some frustration as you adjust to this new system. That’s why the Vision Building Day 1 (VB1) is so valuable.

VB1 gives you the chance to review everything you learned in the Focus Day and to build on that. Your Implementer will answer all your questions and give you the assurance you need to break through that ceiling. Now things will start to come together and you’ll get a better sense of how EOS works.

At this point, the lightbulb usually turns on as people realize what it really means to be the right type of person in your company and what it means to share your Core Values. This is where leadership teams start to get excited, because they’re establishing a vision they can rally behind.

3. Vision Building Day 2

After 30 days, you’ll meet with your Implementer for VB2. This session will give you what you need to continue practicing everything you’re learning. Your whole team will gain new confidence as you can see what your organization can become in ten years, three years, and even one year down the road.

Now you’re ready to begin quarterly pulsing, running the entire EOS system at the leadership team level. You’ll see your team gaining traction, and when you’re ready you can start planning a rollout throughout the entire company.

The EOS Process makes all the difference, because it gives you the opportunity to slow down and come out of the business in order to work on it – not in it. It also gives everyone a forum to be open, honest and vulnerable. These session days help you to process the concepts, and to work through worries, questions and frustrations.

Trust the EOS Process

By combining this proven process with the experience of a Certified EOS Implementer, you’ll benefit from practical ways to get things done without getting overwhelmed. EOS is very simple. It’s not easy, but it’s simple to get into motion. This process removes all the barriers to get things going and get EOS fully implemented into the daily running of your business.

Know that you are not alone. It’s normal to have doubts, fears and worries about being able to stick with EOS. Be honest about your questions, doubts and fears. Talk about them with your leadership team and your Implementer. But enter into the process with hope and expectation, because you’ve got a proven way to find success.
