Ever had a really rough start to the week?

I sure did this week, but it all turned around on Wednesday.

Why?

I changed.

Nothing around me changed.

I changed.

I took a break.

Got some exercise.

Chatted with some trusted friends.

Changed my attitude.

Changed my thinking.

Evaluated what was in my control and what was not.

Refocused on the things that are in my control.

Made a plan.

Put the plan in action.

"When you change the way you look at thing, the things you look at change."

I hope someone out there needed to hear that.

If you did please comment.

Two years down and a lifetime to go.

October 1, 2020. I took this picture off of my balcony in Denver right before I picked up the phone and made a call to my then boss and resigned from my corporate job.

We were in month seven of the pandemic.

People thought I was crazy.

I was walking away from security, while most were trying to hold onto theirs.

I loved the people I worked with. I loved so much of what made me great at my job, yet it felt so off.

I wanted the freedom to do what I loved on my own terms, not anybody else’s.

So I made myself a promise that I would not let another birthday go by without making a change.

I turned in my resignation the night before my birthday and dove headfirst into running my own business.

In those first few months, I went and sat on empty beaches and in empty Marriott’s to reflect on what came next and what I truly wanted out of going on my own.

It took time, hard work, and a whole lot of consistency - turns out sorting out your own shit and business is more challenging than helping others sort out theirs.

It took me months and into my second year of business to feel like I finally had clarity and stability.

For all you entrepreneurs out there. Starting a business is hard.

I failed more times in 2021 than I have collectively in my whole life, and it felt like an upward battle most days.

I tripped, stumbled, pivoted, cried, questioned, and asked myself a lot of times why I walked away from my corporate job.

Today it’s much easier to answer as I have my freedom, a business that brings me so much joy, and clients that I am grateful for every single day.

Is every day easy? No way. But when I look back on the foundation laid and the storms weathered to get here, it makes it all worth it.

The journey continues to unfold and like every entrepreneur, your hard days or failures are never done. You just learn to pivot with greater ease.

If you have a dream, chase it because it won’t chase you.

Thank you to every single one of my clients for taking a chance on me. I love what I do and am so grateful for each of you!

Our leadership team just conducted our quarterly EOS planning session.

We reviewed our Vision/Traction Organizer, our rocks, scorecard, and accountability chart.

What an impactful day of stepping away from office and focus “on” the business with our talented and committed leaders. Implementing the EOS system has been one of the best decisions we’ve made!
