Your weekly Level 10 Meeting is where your Leadership Team gains Traction. It’s your opportunity to review progress, solve Issues, and stay aligned as a team.
But great Level 10 Meetings don’t happen by accident.
They happen when you follow a simple set of disciplines and execute the meeting the way it was designed.
Here are 10 ways to get the most out of your Level 10 Meeting.
1. Start on Time
Starting on time sets the tone for discipline and accountability. When you consistently begin late, you send a message that the meeting and the team’s time aren’t a priority.
Strong teams start on time. Every time.
2. End on Time
Ending on time is just as important. It forces focus, keeps the meeting efficient, and builds trust with your team.
When people know the meeting will end on time, they show up more prepared and engaged.
3. Meet on the Same Day Each Week
Consistency matters. Meeting on the same day each week creates a rhythm your team can rely on.
It reinforces that this is a priority and ensures you’re regularly reviewing and solving what matters most.
4. Meet at the Same Time
Just like the day, the time should never change. When your Level 10 Meeting is locked into the calendar, it becomes part of how your business operates, not something that gets moved around when things get busy.
Because when things get busy, you need the meeting most.
5. Follow the Agenda Every Time
The Level 10 Meeting works because of its structure. Don’t change it. Don’t add to it.
- Segue
- Scorecard
- Rock Review
- Headlines
- To-Do List
- IDS
- Conclude
Each section has a purpose. When you follow the agenda and keep each section on track, your meeting becomes efficient and effective.
6. Be Present (No Phones)
This one may seem obvious, but you’d be surprised how many teams struggle with it.
No phones. No distractions.
This is 90 minutes a week for your Leadership Team to focus on the business. If you’re splitting your attention, you’re not fully participating, and that impacts the entire team. We expect a return on every dollar we spend. We should expect the same from the time we invest in meetings.
If you feel like you can’t step away from your phone for 90 minutes, that’s likely a sign of deeper Issues that need to be solved.
7. Be Vulnerable
Even the most accomplished leaders occasionally don’t get things done. If that happens, own it. Sharing your shortfalls with your team will show them that it’s okay to share bad news and that it can be valuable to do so.
8. Share What Matters in Headlines
Use the Headlines section to share important updates your team needs to know.
This includes:
- Major wins or challenges
- Customer or operational updates
- Key team news
When relevant, this may include examples of team members living your Core Values, but only if it’s part of a real update the team needs to hear.
Keep it brief. If it’s an Issue, move it to IDS.
9. Don’t Reschedule
There will always be conflicts: vacations, emergencies, competing priorities. But just as the business doesn’t go on pause when that happens, neither should your Level 10s.
If someone can’t attend:
- Get their numbers in advance
- Share a recap afterward
Consistency builds Traction.
10. Raise the Bar on Your Issues List
Some teams show up to their Level 10 Meeting with nothing to IDS. That’s an Issue.
Strong teams keep a real Issues List. They surface what’s not working, talk openly about tough problems, and use IDS to solve them for the greater good of the business.
If you’re not seeing enough Issues, it may be time to raise the bar. Turn up the heat on your Scorecard metrics. Get more honest about your Rocks. When you push for better results, the real Issues rise to the surface and solving them helps the whole business level up.
Level Up the Most Valuable 90 Minutes in Your Week
The power of the Level 10 Meeting is in its simplicity.
Don’t customize it. Don’t add extra structure. Don’t overthink it.
Just follow the process.
When you do, your team will solve problems faster, stay aligned, and execute at a higher level.
