I’ve been writing these Clarity Break Thoughts (aka passionate pleas) for about eight years now. They’re called Clarity Break Thoughts because the idea is to give you something to ponder during your next Clarity Break that will help you get more of what you want from your business.
We know that it is healthy to detach from the world occasionally to reflect and spend some quality time with yourself. It is rejuvenating, stress relieving and if you are lucky even downright fun. Try it, completely unplug and focus on you. You owe it to yourself!
Years ago when I was starting my business career I would occasionally meet my father-in-law at a small diner for what we called our “businessman’s lunch”. My father-in-law was a character. He often called his father-in-law “The Kaiser” after his German heritage. He had lots of nicknames for me as well but, I digress.
If you are like most small business owners and leaders, you have too much on your plate. You are constantly juggling priorities. After all, your company, employees, family and, sometimes it feels like, the whole world is depending on you. To paraphrase Rudyard Kipling in “IF” – “It is tough to keep your head, when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you”. So what is a person to do?

I sent a number of my business partners a $25 Starbucks Gift Cards early in December for the holidays. My intent was to thank them for supporting me in 2013 with an eye to a bigger future in 2014. I added a note to the card, asking if it was “Time for a clarity break?” I figured if it was “time,” a little Starbucks might just do the trick.
